LaserEyes

Protocol Support

Status of runes, BRC-20, alkanes, and inscriptions support.

LaserEyes is built to handle Bitcoin metaprotocols, but the read and write action groups for runes, BRC-20, alkanes, and inscriptions are not yet exported in the current pre-1.0 line.

What's available today

  • The protocol domain types and capability interfaces are exported from @lasereyes/client — they're needed to type backends.
  • Base Bitcoin operations (balance, UTXOs, fees, send, sign, broadcast) are fully supported.

What's deferred

The protocol action groups (src/actions/<proto> in the client package) are designed and scaffolded but deferred from the public API pending implementation of their write paths. The re-introduction order is runes first, then BRC-20, inscriptions, and alkanes.

This means the following are not currently available through LaserEyes:

  • Fetching protocol balances (rune / BRC-20 / alkane holdings).
  • Sending runes, BRC-20 tokens, or alkanes.
  • Listing, creating, or transferring inscriptions.

These features existed in the legacy useLaserEyes API and will return as typed action groups. Until then, build against the base Bitcoin actions and read protocol data directly from a backend that supports it (e.g. Sandshrew, Maestro).
